Share Your Gifts. Serve with Purpose. Belong.
Every one of us has been given gifts, and those gifts are meant to be shared.
Whether you feel called to serve at the altar, welcome others, care for those in need, or support Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish behind the scenes, there is a place for you here. Volunteering isn’t just about filling a role, it’s about growing in faith, building relationships, and making a difference in the life of our OLBS community.
We’re grateful you’re here, and we’d love to help you take the next step.

How It Works
Getting started is simple. We’ll walk with you every step of the way.
Step 1: Tell Us About You
Complete a short Volunteer Interest Form so we can learn a little about you and your interests.
Step 2: Connect with Our Team
A member of our parish staff or ministry leadership will reach out to welcome you, answer questions, and help find the right fit.
Step 3: Complete Protecting God’s Children/Safe Environment Requirements
Many roles require participation in our Protecting God’s Children/Safe Environment process to ensure the well-being of all, especially children and vulnerable adults. We’ll guide you through this if it applies to your role.
Step 4: Begin Serving
Once you’re ready, you’ll be supported as you begin serving and growing in your ministry.
Safe Enviroments
Because we are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and caring environment for all—especially children and vulnerable adults—some volunteer roles require participation in the Archdiocese of Chicago’s Protecting God’s Children/Safe Environment program.
Depending on your role, this may include:
- An active and up-to-date Virtus account (If you don’t have an account, navigate to Virtus and create new account, select Chicago, IL for Archdiocese, and for location select Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament. If you have an account that needs to be reactived, contact our Site Administrator.)
- Completing any assigned online training modules
- Complete and submit a Criminal Background Check through your dashboard
- Complete and turn into the parish office the certificate for Mandated Report Training listed on your dashboard
- Complete and turn into the parish office a completed CANTS 689 (Illinois Child Abuse and Neglect Tracking System) listed on your dashboard
- Read and submit through your dasbhoard the Archdiocesan Standards of Behavior
- Complete and gather all compliance forms into one envelope, label Virtus Compliance and turn into the parish office.
- Check your account monthly and complete any bulletins or assigned training modules
Certain ministries (such as Care Ministry, Bereavement Ministry, and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion) may also require mandation through the Archdiocese.
Don’t worry, we will guide you through each step and support you along the way.
