First Steps

Welcome Home!

Whether you’re exploring faith, returning to church after many years, or looking for a parish to call home, we’re glad you’re here. At Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, you’ll find a welcoming community centered on Jesus Christ, the Sacraments, and caring for one another. We hope your first visit feels less like walking into a building and more like coming home.

Mass Times & Quick Info

Each Mass has its own personality, and part of the beauty is that no two weekends are exactly alike. Some liturgies may feature choir, contemporary music, children’s participation, or quieter reflection. Families often feel especially at home at our 10:30am Sunday Mass.

First time visiting? Our greeters and ushers are happy to help you find your way and answer any questions.

What to Expect

At Mass

Never been to a Catholic Mass before? You’re not alone. Feel free to participate as much or as little as you’re comfortable. Worship aids are available, and our community will help guide you through the liturgy.

Arriving 10–15 minutes early can help make your first visit more relaxed and comfortable. Our Greeters and Ushers would love to welcome you, help you find your way, and answer any questions before Mass begins.

What Should I Wear?

On any given Sunday, you’ll see everything from “Sunday best” to jeans and tees. Dress comfortably, and for the weather, because in Chicagoland, that could mean just about anything!

Bringing Children?

Wiggles, whispers, and little footsteps are always welcome at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish. We love having children and families as part of our parish community.

Young Children

  • Activity Bags. Check out a book bag from a coat rack in our vestibule to teach and occupy little ones during Mass. Please return bags to the coat rack after Mass.
  • Children’s Liturgy of the Word. All children 4-years and older will be invited forwarded after the opening prayer to join a CLW leader for a child-based lesson on the scripture of the day. Please see parish calendar for available dates (September through May).

School Age

  • Religious Education. Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament offers a Christ-centered religious education program for children in grades K through 8 from September to May with special programs over the Summer and throughout the year. Refer to our parish calendar for schedule of classes and special events.
  • Kid’s Choir. Our Kid’s Choir, for children in 2nd-8th Grade, sings for special Holy Days and at one Sunday liturgy per month. Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays from 3-4pm at QR. Students may arrive as early as 2:45pm.
  • Altar Serving. Students in grade 4 and up are invited to train to become altar servers to assist with Sunday and Holy Day, wedding and funeral liturgies.

Teens

  • Youth Ministry. Our Youth Ministry is a fun place for teens in Grades 6 through Senior in High School to explore their faith, grow in relationship to Jesus Christ and make new friends.
  • Teen Center. This is a space just for teens. You can work on homework or group projects, watch movies, play video games, use the game tables, work on arts or crafts or just hang out with friends.

Meet the Clergy

Our clergy are not only here to lead our community in worship but also to be a part of our daily lives. They are approachable, understanding, and eager to connect with each and every one of us. So, whether you want to discuss matters of faith, seek guidance or simply share a friendly conversation, remember that our clergy are here for you.

One of our beloved priests is our Pastor, Fr. Arthur Bautista, a friendly and approachable man. Fr. Arthur loves to travel, and enjoys leading pilgrimages to share his travel with others. Fr. Arthur calls our Queen of the Rosary School his happy places. You will often find him playing hoops with students, sharing lunch with them, or cheering on their sporting events. Next time you see Fr. Arthur, ask about his visits to Rome or the Holy Land!

Another remarkable member of our clergy is our Associate Pastor, Fr. Paul Ọlátúbọ̀sún Àdajà. Fr. Paul hails all the way from Nigeria! With a deep love for learning and discussing the Bible, Fr. Paul is a passionate advocate for our faith. A sports enthusiast with a special love for the “real football,” he’s always up for a chat about faith or sports. If you see Fr. Paul around, don’t hesitate to strike up a conversation and get to know him better!

And rounding out our clergy team is our Deacon, Mr. Jerrold Szostak, a very warm and friendly man. In addition to helping with liturgies, Dcn Jerry leads our Baptismal Preparation, co-leads our Thursday Evening Bible Study and participates in the Men’s Group. When he isn’t helping at Church, Dcn Jerry can likely be found on the golf course, weather permitting. If you run into Dcn Jerry, ask him how his golf game is.
