Giving Season

As we look forward to the most wonderful time of the year, we are thrilled to undertake our Annual Season of Giving initiative, aimed at spreading love, joy and hope to those in need within our community and beyond. This Christmas, as we continue our year of “Be Transformed,” let’s come together as a parish family to help transform the lives of others.

Season of Giving is an opportunity for us to reflect the true spirit of Christmas, which is all about love, generosity and compassion. Let’s come together once again as a parish and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

“For it is in giving that we receive.” —St. Francis of Assisi

Please expand the sections below to discover more about the organizations we support.

Christmas Elves | Nov 4 to Nov 19.

Join us in making the holiday season brighter for the orphans at the Mission of Our Lady of Angels. We invite you to participate in our stocking stuffer and toy drive, where your generous donations will bring smiles and warmth to these young hearts. Look for Wish Lists and Collection Bins in our vestibules. Teens from our Youth Ministry will sort the goodies and fill stockings at their November 19th meeting. On the Friday after Thanksgiving, November 24th, Mr. Van and teens will bring all the gifts to the Mission of Our Lady of Angels.

Teens, earn service hours by helping at the November 19th meeting or toy delivery on November 24th.

Christmas Angels | Nov 11/12 Adopt a Family | Dec 9/10 Drop Gifts in the “Sleigh.”

Be an angel to local families living below the poverty level. Our Christmas Angels program allows you to "adopt" a family and purchase Christmas gifts for each member. Your kindness will light up their homes and warm their hearts during this special time of year. Look for Angel Trees in our vestibules when you attend Mass the weekend of November 11th and 12th. The weekend of December 9th and 10th, the sleigh will pull up to collect gifts for delivery to families. All gifts should be delivered wrapped and assembled into a box or bag with the family number visible for delivery.

Teens, earn service hours helping Mrs. Villano load the “sleigh.”

Things4WINGS | Nov 27 – Dec 10.

Lift a hand in compassion to support the WINGS Program helping survivors of domestic abuse by collecting household and personal essentials through our Things4WINGS drive. Your donations will provide much-needed relief and comfort to those who have experienced hardship. All items should be NEW. Look for Wish Lists and Collection Bins in our vestibules.

Winter Suppers.

We are excited to continue our collaboration with Catholic Charities. Your donations to our Poor Box at Christmastime and throughout the year help provide a hearty meal to guests of Catholic Charities in Des Plaines. And new this year, we look forward to helping our neighbors at Christus Victor Lutheran Church reopen their PADS site. Our Good Samaritan Ministry will provide a hearty, home-cooked meal to those in need once per month from November to April. Look for signups in the Bulletin and eNews. Our first supper is Sunday, November 12th. Your participation can bring warmth and nourishment to neighbors in need.

Catholic Extension.

Together, we can make a significant impact on underprivileged areas of the United States. Join us as we once again contribute to Catholic Extension's mission by raising funds to build faith, inspire hope and ignite change in these communities.

Supporting Local Blood Drives.

We are proud to continue our tradition of supporting local blood drives. Your blood donation can save lives and bring hope to those in medical need. The final Community Blood Drive of 2023 in Elk Grove Village will take place on November 11, 2023 from 8am to 1pm in Village Hall at 901 Wellingtons. Check the eNews and our Outside the Parish webpage for information on local drives. Do you know of a blood drive near us? Please contact the parish office with the details and we’ll help spread the word!

Questions? If you have any questions or would like to support these activities, but prefer not to shop, please feel free to reach out to the Parish Office at (847) 979-0901 or info@olbsegv.org.

Thank you for your unwavering support and commitment to spreading the message of love and hope during this special time of year. May this Season of Giving be a source of inspiration, transformation and blessing to us all.
