Giving Season

While Christmas is a time of great joy and celebration for most of us, it can be a difficult time for families facing financial hardship. Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament generously shares time, treasure and talent to support our neighbors in need during A Season of Giving.

For it is in giving that we receive. —St. Francis of Assisi

Make holidays merry and bright for children at the Mission of Our Lady of Angels with stocking stuffer toys and candies. Look for collection bins in our vestibules.

2022 Collection Dates: November 5th – November 19th

Our Youth Ministry will sort donations at their November 20th meeting and deliver stockings and stuffers to the Mission at Our Lady of Angels on the Friday after Thanksgiving, November 25th.  If you or a teen would like to help, please contact Mr. Van for more information. Service hours apply for this activity.

Your new, unwrapped toy donations will bring holiday cheer to children at the Mission of Our Lady of Angels. Look for donation bins in our vestibules.

2022 Collection Dates: December 3rd – December 11th

Gifts will be delivered to the Mission at Our Lady of Angels on Monday, December 12th. Adult drivers are needed. Please call the parish office at (847) 979-0901 to discover more or volunteer to be part of the caravan.

Select an ornament from an Angel Tree in our vestibules to adopt a family (as a group or individually) and bring joy to those in need this Christmas season. Families on our Angel Trees are living below the poverty line, parents are enrolled in parenting, job and other skills training and they are vetted by early childhood providers.

2022 Adoption Weekend: November 12th & 13th at all Masses
2022 Load the Sleigh: December 10th & 11th at all Masses

Calling all teens! If you would like to help Mrs. Villano, please contact Mr. Van or call the parish office at (847) 979-0901 to volunteer or discover more.

Support the Wings Program assisting survivors of domestic abuse with donations of much needed items. See bulletin and eNews for Wish List, and look for collection bins in our vestibules.

2022 Collection Dates: November 19th – November 25th
Mrs. McWherter has kindly offered to deliver all gifts to WINGS on Saturday, December 3rd. If you are able to help sort, pack or be another driver, please contact the parish office at (847) 979-0901. Note to teens, service hours apply for this activity!

Your generous donations to the Poor Box assist our Good Samaritan Ministry in providing one meal per month to Catholic Charities in Des Plaines throughout the year. These meals are especially needed during the Winter and at Christmas time.

Since the pandemic began, our Good Samaritans have been providing Winter Suppers to Journeys/PADS guests housed in local hotels. We could not continue this community outreach without your generosity to shop, cook, prep and pack meals. Look for signups in the Bulletin and eNews for dates, times and serving menus.

Blood is urgently needed at this time. Give to save lives. Support a local blood drive as part of our Season of Giving:

Saturday, November 12th from 8am – 1pm
Village Municipal Complex LL
901 Wellington, EGV

Last year we raised $1,173 to support Catholic Extension and their efforts to build faith, inspire hope and ignite change in underprivileged areas across the United States.

Can we match or beat that amount in 2022?

Please look for the blue envelopes in our vestibules between December 12th and January 6th, or contact the parish office at (847) 979-0901 to make a donation or discover more.
