Good Samaritan Ministry

The Good Samaritan Ministry presents opportunities for social outreach, providing aid to those less fortunate in the parish and surrounding community.

“Whatever you do for the least of my brothers, that you do unto me.” – Matthew 25:40

MISSION STATEMENT

Working closely with social-services and other organizations, our OLBS Good Samaritan Ministry fosters volunteer opportunities to care for the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of individuals and families in need in our parish community and beyond.

VISION

To insure that those in our OLBS family and the community at large who lack sufficient resources to care for themselves or their families never feel forgotten or alone.

Caring men and women who are ready to put God’s love into action by serving the poor, hungry and marginalized among us with mercy and compassion and without judgement.

Prayer & Worship

Good Samaritans know that worth is not determined by a person’s station. We pray with and for those in need. We strive to remind the poor in spirit of the enduring peace found in God’s love for us. We know that we are all stronger together.

Services & Activities

Help feed the hungry at Catholic Charities Dinners in Des Plaines and/or PADS Summer Suppers in Shea Hall (SJE).
Pack food boxes at local food pantries such as Feed My Starving Children and/or volunteer at Northern Illinois Food Bank.
Help organize and support various drives for food, household and personal care items to support local food banks, Journeys/PADS and other agencies that support those in need throughout the year.

Our Benefactors

The following restaurants support St. Julian Eymard Parish by routinely providing entrees, soups, salads and pizzas for our monthly dinners at Catholic Charities and our Summer Suppers.
