Love to sing? Love making friends? Love birthday cookies? Love hand chimes? Then Kid’s Choir might be the perfect place for you!
Kid’s Choir is open to students in Grades 2-8 and offers a fun, welcoming environment where young people can grow in confidence, build friendships, share their gifts, and help lead our parish in sung prayer.
No musical experience is required. No auditions. No pressure. Just a joyful group of young people learning, singing, laughing, and growing together.
Sure, we sing. But Kid's Choir is about much more than music.
It's about finding your voice. It's about making friends. It's about learning that you belong.
Throughout the year, choir members help lead music at one Sunday Mass each month and participate in some of the most beloved celebrations of the liturgical year.
By the end of the year, many students discover something surprising:
They know the Mass by heart. They feel comfortable participating. They understand the seasons of the Church. And they have a whole parish and a group of friends cheering them on.
Ask our choir members what they love most and you'll hear things like:
Wednesday afternoons quickly become a highlight of the week. Students build friendships across grade levels while sharing music, laughter, and plenty of memorable moments.
Let's be honest. The hand chimes are a big deal. Every year, choir members look forward to opportunities to ring hand chimes during special celebrations.
One of our favorite traditions is singing Malo! Malo! Thanks Be to God at Thanksgiving Mass. Students help lead the parish in giving thanks to God by singing "thank you" in dozens of languages while holding signs from around the world. It's joyful, memorable, and uniquely OLBS Kids' Choir.
Once a month, we celebrate birthdays with cookies. Because every choir member deserves to feel special. And because singing is always better with friends.
Never sung in a choir before? Perfect.
Already love to sing? Wonderful.
Whether you're an experienced singer or just discovering your voice, our directors provide instruction, encouragement, and support every step of the way.
Each student receives a choir binder with music and resources, and rehearsals are designed to help students grow at their own pace.
As Mrs. Gore likes to remind us, "Practice doesn't make perfect. Practice makes permanent."
In Kid's Choir, we're not focused on perfection. We're focused on growth.
Wednesdays during the school year from 3:00-4:00pm at Queen of the Rosary Church (750 W. Elk Grove Blvd, next to Rainbow Falls)
Students may arrive as early as 2:40 PM to enjoy a quick snack, finish homework, and spend time with friends before rehearsal begins.
Kid's Choir helps lead sung prayer at one Sunday Mass each month, including:
Choir members receive a Kid's Choir t-shirt to wear when singing at Mass. During Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter, students often wear their Sunday best in liturgically appropriate colors as we celebrate these special seasons together.
