Funeral Planning

Catholic Funeral Rites

Hope in the midst of grief. In times of loss, the Church surrounds families with prayer, care, and the hope of eternal life in Christ. The Funeral Rites are a sacred way we honor our loved ones and entrust them to God’s mercy.

These rites typically include:

  • The Vigil (Wake Service)
  • The Funeral Liturgy (Mass)
  • The Rite of Committal

Each step is an opportunity for prayer, remembrance, and trust in God’s promise of new life.

Funeral Arrangements

In most cases, funeral arrangements are coordinated through a funeral home, who will contact the parish on your behalf. If you have experienced a loss or have questions, we are here for you.

For Funeral Directors

Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish is grateful for the partnership we share with local funeral homes in serving families during times of loss. Together, we help ensure that each Catholic funeral is celebrated with dignity, reverence, and care, rooted in the hope of the Resurrection.

Parish Role in Funeral Liturgies

Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish takes the Church’s role in the Funeral Rites very seriously. We pray for the deceased, support those who mourn, and proclaim our faith in eternal life with Christ. These sacred moments—the Vigil, the Funeral Liturgy, and the Rite of Committal—are not simply services, but acts of worship offered with and for the family.

A Pastoral Note

As a parish community, Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament is committed to accompanying families with compassion, prayer, and personal care. The celebration of a funeral in the Church is part of our shared life of faith, not simply the use of a space, but a sacred moment entrusted to us.

Offerings associated with funeral services are not fees for a venue, but help support the ministry of the Church, including the time of our clergy and staff, the care of our worship space, and the resources needed to serve families with dignity and reverence.

In our family of faith, nobody grieves alone.
