Welcome Home Team

The safety and wellbeing of parishioners remains our top priority. To help insure the safe reopening of our church campuses for Mass, Ministry and Education we are in need of volunteers to help at various events. We’re always scouting for new players to rotate into the game. If you are called and have 1-2 hours per week to help, we’d love to have you on the team!

Positions

Welcome Home team members serve as Greeters, Ushers and Sanitizers at liturgies and other parish events.

  • Greeters. Welcome guests, assist with the check-in process including asking screening questions and sanitizing hands. Insure all guests are properly wearing face coverings over nose and mouth and help maintain 6-foot social distancing between guests.

  • Ushers. Show guests to seats, insuring seating in marked pews only and maintaining social distancing between parties. Guide guests in processing for Communion, including sanitizing hands. Lead guests in dismissal, insuring social distancing is maintained and guests don’t congregate.

  • Sanitizers. Help spray surfaces with liquid disinfectant using mechanical sprayers, spray bottles, aerosol disinfectant and disinfecting glass cleaners. Personal protective gear such as gloves, goggles, face shields and smocks provided to help insure safety.

Activities

Personal Prayer and Reflection. Churches may remain open following daily Mass for limited hours to allow parishioners time for personal prayer and reflection inside the church. Greeters/Ushers welcome parishioners to the church, ask health screening questions, sanitize hands and show parishioners to assigned seats. As guests leave, greeters and ushers assist with sanitizing the church.

Sacraments. Greeters/Ushers for Baptism, Wedding, Funeral and Reconciliation welcome guests to the church and verify attendance against provided guest lists, ask health screening questions, sanitize guests hands upon entry (and prior to receiving the Eucharist as required), show guests to assigned seats and help direct parishioner movement.

Sunday Liturgy. We reopened for public celebration of Mass at both churches in July 2020. Greeters/Ushers welcome parishioners to the church and verify attendance against provided signup lists, ask health screening questions, sanitize guests hands upon entry and prior to receiving the Eucharist, show guests to assigned seats and help direct parishioner movement.

Other Events. With attendance at in-person gatherings outside of liturgy still limited to 10, we are not hosting in-person events at this time.

Training will be provided for all volunteers and Signups are available to help you conveniently schedule convenient shifts. Please continue to check back as we may be able to open for additional activities and hours soon. Thank you, we couldn’t do it without you!
