We have three primary objectives: Check In; Pledge Support and Further Connection.
VISION
To be a source of communion and support for our parishioners, especially those who may find their personal and/or church lives disrupted by the COVID19 virus.
TIME & TALENT
Not knowing the needs that will arise, we are looking for attentive and creative individuals ready and willing to work together to attend the needs of our parish community.

Meet one of our parishioners who was homebound due to COVID and just needed someone to talk to.

Speak with a widow who lost her spouse a year ago and since we are both widows, well, we just got to talking!

Meet a woman who was not sure how to go about contacting the right person to make a donation. I’m so pleased that not only was I able to connect her, but still chat, now and again!

Introduced myself to another lady who was very active in our parish pre-COVID, but wasn’t sure how to get involved as things with the pandemic were changing. I explained some of the opportunities, and happy to say she found the right spot to jump back in and is again an active volunteer.

Speak with a mom whose husband and children missed attending liturgies. We discussed protocols and options for their family to return to church, even if only during the week for daily Masses!
Maybe you were one of the parishioners who received a call from me, or one of our other Love Thy Neighbor volunteers!
In summary, I have had many wonderful conversations and been able to make new friends and touch base with some old friends. We have a lot of wonderful parishioners; some whose needs are being met and just need a friendly voice to talk with, and some who need to know that members of their faith community are thinking about them.
When we started Love Thy Neighbor last Fall, we tasked ourselves with reaching every parishioner. We’ve made a good start, but we have a lot of ground to cover and we’re looking for others to join us. All you need is your phone, a little bit of time and ask some questions. We’ll even provide you the script! Or maybe you don’t want to make the calls but you’re good at organizing? We could use your help in managing the call list and notes.
