Where Religious Education meets Real Life

Updates on Religious Education, reflections and resources curated by St. Julian’s Director of Religious Education, Meghan Donahue (aka Mrs. D.)

…this is not a “goodbye,” and I look forward to continuing our journey with her as we all strive to listen for the movements of the Holy Spirit in our own lives and in the life of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish. —Fr. Dan

You’re probably familiar with the idiom from the late 1800s, “April showers bring May flowers.”

April is National Poetry Month and yes, you can read or write poetry throughout the whole year, but I like the designation of this month falling in early Springtime and overlapping with the Easter season as well…

How are you being of service to others in the community? How are you being of service to those in your own family and home?

The month of February in the Catholic Church is dedicated to the Holy Family: Mary, Joseph and Jesus. Throughout scripture, the Holy Family sets for us the perfect example of putting God first, of loving God…

Blessings upon you and your family in this year of our Lord, 2021!

You may have seen this in Fr. Louis’ First Sunday of Advent bulletin article, and I couldn’t agree more that this is indeed, the most wonderful time of the year…

The month of November is inevitably focused on the Thanksgiving holiday, the wonderful family traditions and foods this special day affords…

Just as Galatians 6:9 says, “Let us not grow tired of doing good, for in due time we shall reap our harvest.” What are you hoping to harvest this fall?

How will we listen to God’s call and allow his grace to transform our parish and our hearts?

About Mrs. D.

Mrs. Donahue is into her fifth year as Director of Religious Education at OLBS, St. Julian Eymard, and she loves the entire community! Before transferring in as the DRE, Mrs. D. taught for fourteen years in Catholic elementary and high schools in Chicago. Her career experience is nicely matched by her academic background which includes a B.A. in English, a Masters’ in Education, a Masters’ in Pastoral Studies, and three certificates in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. Mrs. D’s life-long desire for learning is evident in her passion for teaching, reading and practicing her faith. She can be seen regularly at liturgy and events with her husband of 19 years, Dave, and their two daughters.
